RHIO Leaders Attend National SHIEC Conference in Maryland

Jill Eisenstein, CEO Rochester RHIO

In August, Rochester RHIO leadership attended the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaboration annual conference in National Harbor, Maryland hosted by CRISP. It's goal: To celebrate health information exchange (HIE) growth and success across the country. It's also a once-a-year opportunity for attendees to meet with and learn from colleagues from 70+ HIEs across the nation. It's a time to to learn best practices, hear about successful community projects, and see what other HIEs are doing and the challenges they are facing.

Rochester RHIO CEO Jill Eisenstein, who is the chairperson of SHIEC's national Social Determinants of Health Committee, introduced a breakout session called, "Creating a community ecosystem; leveraging HIEs to detect and address social needs." Other SHIN-NY members also presented at the conference including HEALTHeLINK, HealtheConnections, and Bronx RHIO.

What is SHIEC? SHIEC is national collaborative representing health information exchanges (HIEs). The organization already represents 70+ HIEs, and these HIEs collectively cover more than 200 million people across the U.S.
