Community Health Indicators Report: A Focus on Blood Pressure
The inaugural Community Health Indicators Report compiled by Rochester RHIO shows promise in one particular area: blood pressure.
Nearly two-thirds of patients (66.4%) who had a diagnosis of hypertnesion (high blood pressure) had their condition under control (systolic BP <140 AND diastolic BP <90). This is better than the national average by about 12 percent. According to the CDC, only about half (54%) of Americans have their high blood pressure under control.
This population health study was commissioned by Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and provides a glimpse into residents’ well-being across 13 counties based on 2017 anonymized clinical data. Over 147,000 patient screenings were included in the blood pressure portion of the study.
